U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed David Sacks to lead efforts on artificial intelligence (AI) and cryptocurrency.
Sacks will guide policies in these areas, which Trump sees as vital for U.S. competitiveness. He will also help curb Big Tech bias and safeguard free speech online.
Sacks’ Career Journey
Sacks began his career at McKinsey & Company after graduating from the University of Chicago Law School in 1998. He joined e-commerce startup Confinity, later known as PayPal, where he led product development.
After PayPal was sold to eBay for $1.5 billion, Sacks moved to Hollywood, producing the political satire Thank You For Smoking.
He later founded Yammer, a company acquired by Microsoft for $1.2 billion. In 2017, Sacks co-founded Craft Ventures, investing in companies like Airbnb, Lyft, and SpaceX.
Sacks also co-hosts the “All-In Podcast,” discussing technology and politics. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Sacks moved to the U.S. at age five.
