TikTok has launched its in-app shopping service, TikTok Shop, in Spain and Ireland. This marks the first step in its broader expansion across Europe. The new feature allows users to buy products directly within the app and engage with businesses and creators in real time.
Exclusive Access for Local Businesses
Currently, only businesses based in Spain and Ireland can sell products through TikTok Shop. The service showcases a wide range of items, including electric fryers and health supplements, with prices between €3 ($3.16) and €60. This launch aims to offer a seamless shopping experience by integrating e-commerce with social media engagement.
TikTok reports that 20 million people use the platform in Spain each month. To ensure secure transactions, the company collaborates with trusted third-party payment providers.
Looking ahead, TikTok plans to introduce its shopping service in France, Germany, and Italy. The expansion into Europe is a strategic move for ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent company. As TikTok faces potential bans in the US, ByteDance seeks new markets to sustain its growth and diversify its business operations.
