Following Donald Trump’s election victory, several high-profile tech leaders shared their reactions on social media, with some offering congratulations and others urging unity amid the transition.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk praised the outcome, stating on X (formerly Twitter) that the American people gave Trump a “crystal clear mandate for change” and suggested the future looks promising. Musk, a known Trump supporter, contributed nearly $75 million through his super PAC, America PAC, in support of Trump’s campaign.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, despite his past disputes with Trump—most notably a two-year ban on Trump’s Facebook account post-January 6—called the win a “decisive victory” and expressed optimism about opportunities ahead for the country.
Apple’s Tim Cook and Alphabet’s Sundar Pichai also welcomed Trump’s win. Cook expressed hope for collaboration to keep the U.S. at the forefront of innovation, while Pichai described it as the beginning of a “golden age of American innovation.” Amazon’s Jeff Bezos echoed similar sentiments, praising Trump’s comeback as “extraordinary” and a sign of the nation’s vast potential.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and OpenAI’s Sam Altman both expressed their commitment to working with the incoming administration to strengthen the U.S.’s leadership in tech and AI.
However, not all in the tech sector celebrated. LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, a supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris, acknowledged the result, calling for unity but expressing concern over the implications of a Trump presidency. Hoffman emphasized his hope that the next four years would benefit all Americans.
Melinda Gates, philanthropist and co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, conveyed disappointment, calling the outcome a “discouraging day” but reaffirmed her dedication to advocacy efforts across the U.S. Katie Stanton, a former executive at Twitter and Google, encouraged healing and rebuilding, calling America’s current situation “a lot of work to do.”
The diverse reactions highlight the tech industry’s varied perspectives on Trump’s presidency, with leaders calling both for collaboration and vigilance in shaping the country’s future.
