President-elect Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Keith Kellogg, a retired three-star general, will serve as his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Kellogg has been a longtime advisor to Trump and previously held roles as National Security Advisor to Vice President Mike Pence and acting National Security Advisor to President Trump. He played a pivotal role in shaping defense policy during the Trump administration.
In a Truth Social post, Trump expressed his appreciation for Kellogg’s loyalty and expertise. “He was with me right from the beginning! Together, we will secure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, and Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN!” Trump declared.
At 80 years old, Kellogg remains a prominent figure in American defense strategy. He is widely recognized for his firm stance on national security issues. In his new position, Kellogg will focus on addressing the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The Biden administration has allocated over $56 billion in security aid to Ukraine. However, Trump has suggested a different approach, claiming he could end the war within 24 hours, possibly by encouraging Ukraine to make territorial concessions.
A Veteran’s Vision for Conflict Resolution
Kellogg’s nomination comes at a critical time, as tensions in Ukraine continue to escalate during the war’s third year. He has consistently advocated for an America-first national security strategy. Kellogg emphasizes the importance of decisive leadership to achieve a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. His views align with his policy work at the American First Policy Institute’s Center for American Security, where he serves as co-chairman.
Trump highlighted Kellogg’s qualifications in his nomination announcement. “Keith understands the challenges we face, and he’s the right man to bring about lasting peace while protecting America’s interests,” Trump stated.
As the conflict persists, Kellogg’s appointment indicates a potential shift in U.S. foreign policy under the Trump administration. This approach aims to implement swift and decisive strategies to address one of the world’s most pressing geopolitical issues.
