Tesla’s $40 Tesla Bot Action Figure, featuring more than 40 detailed parts and 20 points of articulation, sold out within 24 hours of its release. The toy comes with a charging stand and a “CyberHammer” accessory, offering fans a miniature version of the much-anticipated humanoid robot.
When Elon Musk first introduced the Tesla humanoid robot in 2021, he promised a 5-foot, 8-inch AI assistant. However, instead of the full-sized robot, Tesla has delivered a 7-inch action figure designed to resemble the futuristic machine.
Released on Saturday, the action figure quickly sold out, as reported by Teslarati, a site that tracks Tesla and SpaceX. As of Monday, the toy is still unavailable, with customers only able to sign up for restock notifications.
Tesla markets the action figure as “Your mini autonomous assistant and humanoid friend.” The 1:10 scale figure is intricately designed with over 40 parts and 20 points of articulation, making it both a collectible and a functional toy that mirrors the upcoming Gen 2 humanoid robot.
In addition to the figure, buyers also receive a charging stand and a “CyberHammer” accessory.
Resale Prices Surge
With the official stock sold out, the Tesla Bot Action Figure is now only available on resale sites like eBay, where prices range from $130 to an eye-watering $1,300 — far above the original $40 price tag.
It is unclear when those who purchased the action figure directly from Tesla will receive their orders or when the toy will be restocked. USA TODAY reached out to Tesla for comment on Monday but did not receive an immediate response.
When Will Tesla’s Humanoid Robots Be Released?
During Tesla’s earnings call on July 23, Elon Musk revealed that the company plans to begin limited production of its Optimus humanoid robot in early 2025. These initial units will be used internally at Tesla to address any issues before broader use. Musk expects to have several thousand Optimus robots in operation at Tesla factories by the end of 2025, with full-scale production slated to begin in 2026. At that time, the second version of the robot will be available for purchase by external customers.
