Tesla has issued its sixth recall of the year for the Cybertruck, affecting more than 2,400 vehicles due to a faulty part that could cause a loss of power to the wheels. The recall impacts Cybertrucks built between November 6, 2023, and July 30, 2024.
The recall, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on November 5, stems from an issue with the drive inverter’s metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors. If the inverter malfunctions, drivers may find that their accelerator pedal no longer works, preventing the vehicle from moving. Tesla has assured that no accidents, injuries, or fatalities have been linked to the defect.
This recall is the latest in a series of recalls Tesla has issued in 2024. Last month, over 27,000 vehicles were recalled due to a potential problem with the rearview camera. In June, two separate recalls addressed issues with windshield wipers and loose trunk bed trim. Earlier this year, in April, Tesla recalled vehicles for a faulty accelerator pedal.

The issue involves the metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors in the drive inverter. If these transistors fail, the vehicle may lose the ability to accelerate, leaving the driver unable to move the car forward. A warning message will appear on the vehicle’s display if the problem occurs.
Tesla will replace the affected parts at no cost to owners of the recalled vehicles.
